If you know that nickname, then you are either great at Geography trivia or you grew up, and / or, live on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  What else could go U.P.?  Maybe our teams scores during some awesome rounds of Trivia.

On a more somber note:

One of the Cowtown Brewing Co. staff lost their wife, unexpectedly, last week.  He has 2 young children to take care of and funeral arrangements to pay for.  In no way is anyone obligated but if you look on the Cowtown Brewery Co. Facebook page or Instagram page you will see a link to a Go Fund Me site.  Our trivia teams are like family and the staff at our venues are also like family.  If you can help, please do so.  I appreciate you all!

Now to the game night details:

We had our regulars of: Hot Tequila (welcome back!), Mouseaholics, The Sharks, and No folk and chance competing against some new teams, such as: Pony Express, Kitties and Titties and Splash Zone.

I made a change to the bonus questions again this week.  I have decided that ALL bonus questions for the 2 games would be derived from the first question of the game.

Game 1 Bonus Questions – The Bible

Game 2 Bonus Questions - Anchorman

Game 1:

Hot Tequila was back from vacation and ready to play.  However, you could tell they were a little rusty, or cold, as they found themselves down in the rankings, tied for third.  No Folk and Chance and Mouseaholics continued their norm and were in a fight, tied for first.  Newcomers, Pony Express, came to play as they trotted out and found themselves alone in third place, just 1 point out of first.

Round 2 was a game changer as no team received more than 3 points, except for Mouseaholics who netted 7.  Thanks to a good round 1, No Folk and Chance still found themselves in 2^nd place.  They were 4 points out of first and they only had a 2-point lead over Pony Express, Splash Zone and Kitties and Titties.  Hot Tequila found themselves in a pickle as they were 3 points out of 2^nd and 7 points out of 1^st.  It would be a challenge to see if they could thaw out in round 3 and make a run for 1^st.

It would come down to round.  The teams did well on the Bible bonus points with Hot Tequila getting 7 out of 8 and our 1^st and 2^nd place teams getting 6 out of 8.  With the game on the line, Mouseaholics needed a good score to stay in the lead and take the W.  Hot Tequila found themselves in the ice box this round, again only netting 2 points.  Pony Express did well to stay in the fight but fell short, taking 3^rd.  Both No Folk and Chance and Mouseaholics had a perfect round 3, with 8 points each.  This was enough for Mouseaholics to take home the Win in game 1.

Game 2:

What would you do for a Klondike bar?  Or what would you do to know which state you hit first if you were to drive due south on the Klondike Hwy from the Canadian city of Whitehorse?  Stay tuned and find out…

After a rough game 1, Hot Tequila seemed to thaw out and wanted to prove their mettle in game 2.  They were tied with No Folk and Chance, Splash Zone and Mouseaholics for first at the end of round 1.  Pony Express and Sharks were still in the mix, but they were 2 points down from the leaders.

Round 2 we saw our teams all over the board.  With an amazing 9 points, Hot Tequila got hot at the right time as they took 1^st place with a 2-point lead over Mouseaholics and a 3-point lead over Splash Zone.  No Folk and Chance decided to make this game harder on themselves than need be as they fell to 4^th place with 8 points overall.  They would need a miracle in the 3^rd round to see themselves into 1^st or 2^nd place. 

With our top teams knotted at 4 bonus points each (apparently, they know their Bible better than Anchorman) how would we end this game?  Splash Zone had to large a splash in round 3 and saw themselves drop to 4^th place.  Pony Express got gobbled up by The Sharks.  However, even with the blood in the water, The Sharks had a great game but could not get out of the Splash Zone and finished 5^th. 

Hot Tequila did their best to give up the game.  They left the cheese out and Mouseaholics took the opening, getting 7 points to Hot Tequila’s 5 points in round 3.  No Folk and Chance left themselves with a chance, a slim chance and fell to 3^rd place, 3 points out of contention.  In true Cowtown fashion, we ended this game in a tie for 1^st.  Sitting at 22 points each, we had a trivia off to break the tie.

Tie Breaker Question: “Usian Bolt took how many strides to win the 100 Meters final at the 2012 Olympics?”  How would our teams fair?  Mouseaholics – 42 / Hot Tequila 40.  The answer was 41.  We had a TIE on a TIE BREAKER question.  Are you kidding me!?!?!  Only at Cowtown does this happen...

Tie Breaker Question 2: “The Longest Baseball game in history occurred between 2 minor league teams in 1981.  How many innings were played in this game?”  Mouseaholics – 20 / Hot Tequila – 40.  Congrats to Hot Tequila on the win, the answer is 33 innings.

For thos that want to know...when you drive south from Whitehorse canada on the Klondike Hwy, you hit...Alaska!
