We welcomed back Dimestore Drinkers into the mix as Okapi and Friends of Snap took the night off. We had the bar staff playing under Rehab is for Quitters this evening. We welcomed in several new teams: The Dry Heat, BBQ Beer Guys, Titanic Swim Team, and Me Myself and I.
This would be a winner talk all match, who would come out on top? Would the bar staff win again with the Kyle, Gavin and Finley playing? With Okapi and Friends of Snap on vacation, would Dimestore Drinkers, get back on top? I had a feeling it was going to be a crazy, close game!
Rehab is for quitters took a quick lead with 10 points after 2 rounds. However, you cannot count out Dimestore Drinkers. While they were 3 points behind after 2 rounds, they have the cents (yes on purpose) to make a comeback. The Dry Heat and BBQ Beer Guys were in the mix too as they were at 5 points.
4 rounds down and Rehab is for quitters thought they were going to run away with the game. However, Dimestore Drinkers had other plans and with an amazing 17 points between rounds 4 and 5, they took a 2-point lead over Rehab. Newcomers, The Dry Heat, were fighting hard but they forgot their sunscreen in round 4 and got burned with only 1 point for the round. BBQ Beer Guys were having fun, maybe a little too much, but I don’t judge as they fell to 4th place, and it was not looking good for a comeback to take 1st.
Going into round 6, the top two teams just had to hang onto their heads, unlike Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. Yes, we had a Henry VIII question and if you knew those 2, unlucky ladies, you got bonus points. Who would prevail? Who would keep their head? Would we end up in a Famous Cowtown Tie?
Round 6, question 1 would be a game changer. Who recalls that little, furry robotic toy that was banned from NSA Offices in 1999? Yes, that loveable Furby and Dimestore Drinkers struck out and left the door open for Rehab is for quitters. Titanic Swim team came into the game late but were making headway but missing the 1st 2 rounds left them in the cold, cold ocean of despair. But hey, the climbed into 4th and had a great time! I know they will be back and can easily take a W next week. Rehab and Dimestore were going toe to toe, standing in the center of the ring, taking each other’s mighty hits. Who would stay on their feet? It was like the Rumble in the Jungle, where you had George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali going for the championship belt. Wouldn’t you know it? This round ended in a tie, and we would go to the bonus score cards to get our victor. With 4 bonus points to 2, we had our winner. By the scorecards and our judges decision, Congrats DIMESTORE DRINKERS on taking the win and the championship belt!
