Tuesday night at Cowtown Brewing Co. was nothing short of electric as The Angry Irishman brought the house down for a St. Patrick’s Day edition of PubGuys Trivia! The brewery was buzzing, green beer was flowing, and Big Pappa’s Food Truck was cranking out loaded Irish nachos that kept teams fueled for battle. With a packed house and a competitive field of 13 teams, this was one for the books.

Rounds 1 & 2 – Fast Starts and Early Jockeying
Right out of the gate, Zak Attack, Cheating Bastards, and We Boat came in hot, each putting up strong Round 1 scores of 7 points. Not far behind were Hot Tequila, The Pizza Boys, Slainte Yall, Yo Boii, Pineapple, and irish Enough, all keeping things tight early. But Round 2 saw a major shake-up—The Waterboys stormed in with a massive 9-point round, jumping into serious contention. Zak Attack stayed consistent, while No Folk And Chance and We Boat kept themselves in the hunt. After two rounds, it was clear: nobody was running away with this one.

Rounds 3 & 4 – Momentum Swings and Tight Clusters
Round 3 brought a surge from Zak Attack and We Boat, both dropping strong 8-point rounds, briefly grabbing control of the leaderboard. But the consistency of The Waterboys kept them within striking distance. Meanwhile, Hot Tequila and 5 Brains, 1 Hat quietly climbed the rankings with steady play. Round 4 tightened everything up again—The Waterboys delivered another big round with 8 points, reclaiming momentum, while Zak Attack stayed right there with 7. Cheating Bastards and No Folk And Chance hovered just behind, refusing to let the top teams breathe.

Rounds 5 & 6 – The Final Push
With everything on the line, Round 5 saw The Waterboys maintain their edge while Zak Attack stumbled slightly, opening the door just a crack. Slainte Yall and Me-Ow made late pushes, but it wasn’t quite enough to break into the top tier. Heading into the final round, it was a two-team race. Round 6 delivered the drama—both The Waterboys and Zak Attack held firm, matching each other and finishing deadlocked at 37 points after bonus questions were applied.

The Tie-Breaker – 10 Seconds of Glory
With first place on the line, one player from The Waterboys and one from Zak Attack stepped up to the table. Ten seconds. One question. Closest answer takes it all. The crowd fell silent… then erupted as The Waterboys edged out the win in a clutch performance, claiming first place in true St. Paddy’s Day fashion. Zak Attack took a hard-fought second, while Cheating Bastards secured third after holding off No Folk And Chance in a tight race.

Final Standings – Top 3 Teams

  1. The Waterboys – 37 (Tie-breaker winner)

  2. Zak Attack – 37

  3. Cheating Bastards – 31

From start to finish, it was a night full of laughs, lead changes, and legendary team names. The competition was fierce, the beer was cold, and the craic was mighty. If this St. Patrick’s Day showdown proved anything, it’s that trivia at Cowtown is always a battle—and always a blast.
