A big THANK YOU to the players and staff out at WOB - Plano tonight! I was opening night for PubGuys out in this neck of the woods, and we couldn't have been better recieved. While the PubGuys do get around, it's always a great feeling to have eager and engaged players from the first wind-up of the mic. Your humble host was in the captain's chair for the first time, and the guys and gals in our games made it a time to remember.
For starters, we had some teams with PG Trivia experience from around the Metroplex. That always sets the bar high. Throw in some new folks with sharp minds and there is sure to be a game worth playing, and watching. Even folks who missed our openings to the games had a great time listening and participating in their own way.
Game One was a good see-saw battle of the brains with the new teams like Tres Lobos, Besties with Testes, and Don't Pressure Me making it into the top half of the 10-team game. Toughest question of the first game seemed to be in the filmography of Candy, with Stripes confounding nearly all of the teams. Taking the top spot: veteran quiz hounds Mutha Farg'n Ice Holes, with the three patio wolves of Tres Lobos hot on their heels.
Game Two held stong on team and player count, with the Power Hour replacing the departed with fresh faces ready for any trivum we could devise. The well-read teams nailed questions from Harry Potter to champion chess, and the top spots remained undecided until our final round. Toughest question certainly went to the theme bonus question in round 2, where the HEAD remained out of the game for almost all the teams. The big mover in the last half was Oh No Romo, finishing in second place, while Mutha Farg'n Ice Holes kept their moniker to win again at Game Two.
Both our 2nd place teams were new AND sat on the patio. Something about that summer wind must be keeping the beer from saturating too deeply! We'll see if the outdoor trend stays true when we come back next Wednesday. Until then, keep your minds open and be ready for anything at our next PubGuys Triva here in Plano!
