The knowledge-keeping crowd at WoB Plano has already started to find their own rhythm and groove in the PubGuys game world. A solid field of nine teams showed up to test their mental mettle. After some minor ferfuffle with the music playlist by yours truley, we were kicked off and ready to play.

The darlings of Game 1 were team Cliff Divers, named for their fearless mascot Cliff. Some alleged that he might even be the author of the study guides of the same name, due to his ample trivia chops. Cliff’s team snuck in a single point victory over You’re My Boy Blue. The third place team Birthday Girl! had their eyes on the prize and would come back fighting in Game 2.

We saw some team shifts for the Power Hour, but the major contenders from Game 1 had their sights on glory and would not be denied. The dark horse team in Game 2 was The Pink Unicorns. In an interesting tactical move, whenever unsure of an answer, this team would respond with “The Chicago Blackhawks,” no matter the category of question. While the chances of success were slim, at least they demonstrated determination and a willingness to stick with the plan.

In the end, our new Plano-regulars, I’m Big in ¼” Scale were able to push to a win with consistent solid play. Team Birthay Girl! nailed a solid second, crushing round 2 and finishing with the highest scoring bonus answer in round 3. An awesome showing of their NFL knowledge, for sure!

All in all, WoB Plano is picking up steam with the PubGuys. I hope you come to join me next week!
