…thankfully we had our Ichthyologists in the house!
It was a smaller crowd as not many people wanted to be out in the 110-degree weather, but we had our regulars of Okapi and TexCub show up and brave the hot temperatures. We welcomed in The Drunk Mondays, Titanic Swim Team, and the Big Kyle Swanson. They would compete against the Cowtown Cuties in a winner takes all game.
3 Rounds into our game, we had a tight race in the top 3. Cowtown Cuties were proving that they could not only serve cold beer and hot food, but they were serving up some great answers as they moved into 2nd place with 17. TexCub had a great start but got sidelined in round 3, with only 3 points moving them down to 3rd place. Okapi, our local forest giraffe, proved why they are the powerhouse team of CBC Southlake tap room as they took a 1-point lead, halfway through the game, at 18 points. Titanic Swim Team came in a round late but were in the mix at 10 points and The Drunk Mondays were enjoying trying new beers and were at 9 points.
5 Rounds in and we had a tie, going into round 6. Cowtown Cuties and Okapi were tangled at 27 points each. TexCub, as always, were right in the mix at 23 points. Round 6 would be a good round. From the 40-year-old virgin to the Ballroom in the game of clue, this round had a wide range of questions. Okapi struck fast and hard taking 8 points and were thinking they had the finish line in site. However, Cowtown Cuties put out road spikes and flattened their tires as they took an amazing 10 points and the victory lap. TexCub had a rough go in round 6 with only 3 points but they finished with an amazing score! While they came in late, Titanic Swim Team, snuck into 4th place and only missed tying for 3rd by a single point.
What a great finish. While the Cowtown Cuties won, they cannot take home the prize so it was relegated to Okapi!
