We had the reigning champs, Okapi, in the house tonight to take on one of their harder competitors, Friends of Snap. They would be facing 7 new teams this evening: Here for the Wine, Don Kedick (pronounced with a long e. I see what you did there!), Moo Point, Moo Problems, Fockers, Squid Squad and Sweet Babes, and There’s something in my mouth.
We had 4 teams vying for first with 9 points each. Okapi had some tough competition this evening as Here for the Wine and Don Kedick were showing their mental prowess as new teams! Squid Squad and Friends of Snap were in the mix sitting 2 points out of this tie for first with 7 points each. How would they hold up over the next 3 round? We shall see…
Okapi did their best to outpace their opponents, but There’s something in my mouth would not relent. Both had amazing rounds 2 thru 5 and Okapi found themselves with a 1-point lead going into the final round. Here for the Wine and Squid Squad were in the mix too but needed a stellar round 6 to move into the top 2. Friends of Snap and Don Kedick found themselves in a hole after a rough round 4. Friends of snap, snapped out of their slump in rounds 4 and 5 but Don Kedick just could not get a good handhold and climb out.
Okapi just needed to hold on and take the Win but There’s something in my mouth had other ideas as they got 7 points in the final round to TIE with Okapi at 35 points each. Here for the Wine edged out Squid Squad to take 3rd place, by 1 point. Our tie breaker question this evening was: “How many pounds of beads are thrown during an Average New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration?” We had one guess in the 1700’s and one in the 7500’s…congrats to Okapi on taking the win! We also had Here for the wine take 2nd place as There’s something in my mouth could not take a winning spot as they were the staff.
