...It was a fun night of PubGuys Trivia at CBC Tap Room Southlake

We had, Friends of Snap joined by Tequila Mockingbird, IB6UB9, Drinking Team with a Trivia problem and the CBC Team – The Bearded Man and his minions.

This would be a winner talk all match, who would come out on top?  Would the bar staff win again with the Bearded Man back in charge?  With Okapi and TexCub on vacation, would Friends of Snap, snap their losing streak and get back on top?  I had a feeling it was going to be a crazy, close game!

The Bearded Man and his minions took a quick lead with 11 points after 2 rounds.  Proving their metal, Friends of Snap were in a closed 2nd place, just 2-points down.  Newcomers, Drinking Team with a Trivia Problem were in the mix too along with IB6UB9 at 7 points.

5 rounds down and The Bearded Man and his Minions took an insurmountable lead with an amazing 31 points.  However, the rest of the pack were biting and clawing for 2nd place all within 2 points of each other.  This would be a colorful ending to a lively game.  By colorful, we had a wonderful music question regarding The Dark Side of the Moon and while we had a younger crowd in the house, many teams knew Pink Floyd.  Little glimmers of knowledge like this will change a game.  However, speaking of lively, we had a fun question of “Gingering a horse up.”  No, that does not mean paint it read…apparently you stick a piece of raw ginger up a horse’s ass.  See the fun things you can learn with PubGuys trivia?  That was not the first time I got a nice resounding BOO from the crowd, and it made me happy!

Going into round 6, all gingered up, we had Friends of Snap at 20 points, Drinking Team with a Trivia Problem at 18 points and Tequila Mockingbird (so glad you got the To Kill a Mockingbird question right) at 17 points.  How would we end this evening?

Round 6, question 6 would be a game changer.  To avoid a tie, I added 3 addition questions (Bonus) for those who knew “The United States’ first law school for women was named for what cross-dressing Shakespearean character?”.  The Answer was Portia but for a twist I wanted to know the following:   What Play was she from (The Merchant of Venice)? What city was the law school formed in (Boston)? and What year was it founded (1908)?

This was a fun, tough round for all.  Friends of Snap received 1 point from the regular questions and had a rough going with the bonus questions, leaving the door open for Drinking Team with a Trivia Problem.  Tequila Mockingbird was in the mix too as they received 3 points as well.  However, they would fall short and end in 3rd place.  Because of their correct answer of Boston and their 3 points, Drinking Team with a Trivia Problem took advantage and the win, by a single point over Friends of Snap.  You all played well, you all had fun and I know I had a hell of a time with the crowd tonight.  You all are awesome!

Congrats to our winners:

1st Place – Drinking Team with a Trivia Problem

A huge shoutout to the CBC Southlake Tap Room Staff for taking care of all the trivia heads.  Thank you, Kyle, Layla, and Meredith!  You make my job a lot easier!

I look forward to seeing you all every Monday, 6:30pm – 8:30pm for another game of PubGuys Trivia!

Until then…
